Big Note Settings on TDC10 / TDC17
Choose your Big Note style, test with Note Display, and tune it to feel intentional.
Quick start
Big Note settings let you choose how Big Notes should trigger on TDC10 and TDC17. The goal is simple: Big Notes should feel intentional — not accidental.
- Update firmware + TDC Mate to the required versions.
- Open TDC Mate → Settings → Sensitivity Config → Big Note Sensitivity.
- Pick a mode (OFF / Dual-hand / AC Mode).
- If Big Note is ON, tune Don/Ka sensitivity (small changes only).
- Test using Note Display, then confirm in-game.
Before you start
Please update first:
- TDC10: Firmware v2.31 or later
- TDC17: Firmware v1.4 (build 5) or later
- TDC Mate: iOS 1.8.8+ / Android 1.7.4+
TDC10 and TDC17 share the same Big Note logic and settings interface in TDC Mate.
Where to find Big Note settings
- Open TDC Mate
- Connect your TDC10 / TDC17 via USB
- Go to Settings
- Open Sensitivity Config
- Tap Big Note Sensitivity
Big Note modes explained
Mode 1 — Big Note OFF
- Big Note = OFF
- All hits are treated as regular Don / Ka
- No Big Note sensitivity tuning is needed in this mode
Recommended for first-time setup, troubleshooting, or a simplified experience.
Mode 2 — Dual-hand trigger (Classic style)
- Big Note = ON
- AC Mode = OFF
- Big Notes trigger when both Don zones are hit together, or both Ka zones are hit together
- Don / Ka Big Note sensitivity is adjustable
This mode keeps Big Notes more “intentional” and helps reduce accidental Big triggers during fast patterns.
Mode 3 — Single-hand trigger (AC Mode)
- Big Note = ON
- AC Mode = ON
- A single strong hit can trigger a Big Note
- Don / Ka Big Note sensitivity is adjustable
If you want Big Notes to pop from a powerful one-handed strike, this is the mode to use.
Customizing Big Note sensitivity (Modes 2 & 3)
Big Note sensitivity is available only when Big Note is enabled (Mode 2 or Mode 3). You can adjust Don and Ka separately.
Since Don and Ka are independent, you can also compensate for different bachi, different technique, or the larger/firmer TDC17 surface.
Testing your settings (Note Display)
Both iOS and Android versions of TDC Mate support real-time testing via Note Display.
How to use Note Display
- Go to Sensitivity Config
- Scroll down to Note Display
- Strike the drum and watch what note appears
- Repeat 3–5 times to check consistency
- Accidental Big Notes from normal hits
- Big Notes not triggering when you clearly hit harder
- Don vs Ka needing different Big Note sensitivity
After Note Display looks good, confirm in-game with a familiar song that has clear Big Note sections.
Player-driven, and still improving
Big Note settings exist because players asked for them — and the community keeps discussing what feels most natural: accidental Big Notes, noise control, and “arcade-like vs home-friendly” behavior.
